We reply to you with a simple proposal, depending upon how ambitious you may be.

Intro to the intro site

The Introductory site deal is for those who want to build a website that they can update themselves with as much work as can be achieved to implement the site design in a One Week Sprint.  That is Six Days of whatever effort you want to put in to learn how to use your new website and CMS.  Providing you interact with us on Slack this is what we achieve for the average user:

  1. complete WordPress installation with 100% support for one week followed by Casual support for the rest of one year.
  2. A potentially intense one-week online development interaction to shape your new site exactly how you want to see it.  You can schedule the days but depending upon availability, this may run for 5 contiguous days or, for example, two days, followed by a week’s gap, followed by 3 days in a row.  You may have to book the days you want on a first come-first served basis.
  3. After five days of development we spend one day tidying up code, documentating, and sprint planning the next stage of your overall plan.  We then propose the sprint plan as a development project which is already hosted.  If the new Client wants to add more features to their CMS they can,  if they want to integrate a Development Project then Development Hosting is required.  This may involve moving the CMS site to a Cloud host which is a part of the delivery unless a separate Development Hosting is purchased.  The only thing that is “paid up” in a Intro site is the intro site itself which is generally hosted on cloudhosting.co.uk which is the Answerable DNS for all assets including cloud hosted subdomains.
  4. We are unlike others: we create a service delivery and ensure that you can use it on whatever hosting you need.  If your service delivery needs more than one host, we simply add the name and sprint plan with you any work to create a new function.  We charge extra for bandwidth when you get very successful, we charge for each domain name, but you only pay for hosting once per annum.  Your overall hosting strategy may mean that basic hosting is no longer suitable for you, but will probably suffice while we configure for your expansion.  Expansions to hosting need not be extravagant but bandwidth costs must always be covered. You may however need both CMS and Cloud hosting accounts to support a Development Project with staging and a CMS which is never staged.
  5. as well as subdomains, we can use meaningful domain name suffixes to point at related sites.  Additional domains can be added for the cost of renewing them, we do not charge for the number of domains but it may use up more of the development time you have to make a structure any more complex than it absolutely has to.  It is usually best to have ONE domain name.
  6. It is vital to get used to creating content.  Write. Publish.  Revise. Rewrite.  Republish.  Start again.  Be fluid about content.  Link all your posts to social media so people can link to them and publish articles that people will read under menu listed categories that your audience need.  You can make it members only (they have to join/subscribe to see it) or public.
  7. The important thing is to write like a river – you are guiding a “user journey” – basically you want them to do one thing – the next thing they need to do – offer too many or a not compelling choice and that is the attention span filter at work.
  8. Every page is best done with an image, a story start point (the image) and end point (link to the shop page or a forum, for example).
  9. When a new content creator is to be added to the site, they are going to have to create content as Contributors until they get the idea and then Authors until they really get it.
  10. Editor status granted to one user at a time.  They take responsibility for all content.
  11. A user who wants Admin rights basically takes over the reigns completely and only seeks support from RD.  Out of scope of the Intro package.
  12. Intro package could have add-on services like Remote Backup that may be chargeable, as they can be done by the Admin using Export.
  13. Supported Admin for small sites can be included, but once we start adding a structure of users, they are not small sites.  So we need a break point of where intro sites have one Editor user needing to be upgraded to CMS sites to establish the Admin Role, perhaps.
  14. The Admin sets the roles for all other users.

Getting on board

Getting started

The first step is to register and then you can access our services immediately.

Once registered as a client you see this screen:

Here is an illustrative example of our user-friendly introduction form so we know the name of your business and whatever you want to tell us about your objectives:

Some clients have to get a website before they want development services, and we can get you setup usually rapidly.  We then provide support services to help make you independently able to extend your business, your art, your creativity on the web medium more easily.  And then leave you to it.  Yes, we can extend support services but each has a term and a desired set of goals.

Corporate Clients often will have a requirement that is more detailed and which is evolving as each Department may have an input.  They may have approached the market and found they either had to build and staff up a team, budgeting up to five or six figures to resource a project. There are usually holes, contractors may simply not be available. Or it is just too great a risk to contemplate starting, yet.

Our services are used by IT departments, Agencies, and IT Managers to keep a project on target.  You want good developers: some of the hard-working skilled contractors who can win in the tough London market now live remotely.  We offer a structure for subcontracting to add effective workers to existing projects as well as assemble teams for whole projects.  You want people who understand what you need and are good at delivering and understanding client requirements.

Developers

We offer a structure for developers to join who are skilled in delivering software modules to contribute to a sprint and to win a “fair share” of the fee.  Most of our developers are full-stack so they can claim 100% but some may wish to invite other developers to join in.

We only accept payment claims that meet the high level of performance we expect from developers.  We do not employ developers, they may wish to contribute to a project to develop a relationship with a client. We provide an infrastructure to the client and manage projects.

A combination of old-school fundamentals and state of the art frameworks and online service integration means that Developers can leverage our infrastructure to manage remote work for clients more easily.

Client Homepage

Our client home page provides a quick method to understand services and to send your enquiry. For example, you may initially ask us to build a new website so you can blog about the project. Or you may have a defined project you wish to talk about.

We then respond with a proposal by email. This is not a quote but an estimate of how many 2-week sprint iterations are possibly required to get your project working.   New projects can take the MVP approach – what is the core purpose of your project, and develop that, and extend it with other services, or applications.  That way your existing services continue to work without interruption.

New projects can take the MVP approach – what is the core purpose of your project, and develop that, and extend it with other services, or applications.  That way your existing services continue to work without interruption.

We have looked at your requirement and estimate about how long that may take, and how many developers we need to achieve the results we are proposing.

We send the Client a proposal with two links, one is to place an order on account, and the other is to take advantage of a prepayment discount for the first Sprint and/or a down-payment for new clients.

The Client can now order or inquire about additional projects, collecting estimates to on-ramp projects easily.

When an order is placed, the work is scheduled and one of our team of developers will be in touch to commence the first Sprint. In two weeks, results are published on our Staging Server, ready for Client acceptance.

Site reorganised

We have reorganised the menus and links on this site to reflect our live site and how it functions. This is an Agile project, so some initial assumptions or pages that lacked clarity have been removed and menu and page structure clarified to make the site easier to use.

Our Servers

CMS Hosting

Remote Development creates Content Managed Sites for new clients or projects. These are hosted on our shared hosting infrastructure during the development cycle. When development is complete the Client has the option to download the software and database so that it can be professionally hosted or purchase our CMS Hosting options.

Cloud Hosting

Remote Development creates software on a Cloud Server and hosts Staging versions for clients at no charge while development is ongoing. When it is ready for publication, the Client can purchase a Production Cloud Server for their Live project(s) or create an instance of the system on their own servers from our secure software repository so that Clients are free to install projects on any server.

Each Client requirement can change over time, as growth occurs Cloud hosting may need to be expanded.
